Pep Guardiola Stands With Manchester City Amid Financial Verdict

Pep Guardiola has publicly reaffirmed his support for Manchester City following the independent commission’s findings on the club’s long-running Premier League financial case.

Guardiola, who ended his decade-long spell as City manager in May, addressed the club’s supporters in a message posted through his official social-media account, making it clear that his departure from the dugout has not changed his relationship with the club.

Guardiola’s message to City supporters

In his message posted on his official Instagram handle, Guardiola wrote:

“I want every single Man City fan to know I am here; more than ever.”

“I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters.”

“Let me be clear: we will get through this together.”

“I love you all”.

The message came shortly after the Premier League confirmed that an independent commission had found City guilty of serious financial-rule breaches covering the 2009-10 to 2017-18 seasons. The League said the commission found, among other things, that the club had used “sham” commercial contracts and submitted misstated accounts. City has denied wrongdoing and intends to appeal.

A decade of Guardiola at the Etihad

Guardiola arrived at Manchester City in the summer of 2016, beginning a remarkable period that transformed the club’s domestic and European record.

His final match came on 24 May 2026, when City lost 2-1 to Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. It was Guardiola’s 593rd match in charge, making him the club’s longest-serving manager by games.

Across those 10 seasons, Guardiola led City to 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first UEFA Champions League. His achievements also included four consecutive Premier League titles and the historic 2022-23 treble.

Sponsors Remain in Position

The financial verdict has also placed attention on Manchester City’s commercial relationships. Lucozade, Kellogg’s and Revolut have reportedly declined to comment publicly on the commission’s findings while the wider process remains ongoing.

For Guardiola, however, the message is one of continued solidarity with the club and its supporters.

Manchester City now turns its attention to the appeal process. The club has strongly rejected the findings and says it will challenge the decision through the available regulatory channels. The case remains ongoing, with any sanctions yet to be determined.
