Jamie Vardy has completed a return to English football after signing for Burnley on a contract running until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The experienced English striker joins the Championship side as a free agent after leaving Italian club Cremonese at the end of last season when his contract expired.
Burnley head coach Nicky Hayen believes Vardy’s experience and leadership can prove crucial to the club’s campaign.
Speaking about the signing, Hayen said:
“His experience and leadership will be invaluable to our squad, and we believe he can make a significant impact on our campaign.Jamie has a proven track record, and we are looking forward to seeing him in a Claret shirt.”

Vardy, who earned 26 caps for England and scored seven goals for the national team, spent 13 years with Leicester City after joining the club from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012.
He went on to become one of the most important players in Leicester’s history, scoring 200 goals in 500 appearances across all competitions.The striker also became Leicester’s record goalscorer in the Premier League, finding the net 145 times in England’s top flight.
After more than a decade with the Foxes, Vardy eventually departed the club and moved to Italy, joining Cremonese on September 1, 2025.
Following his spell in Italy, the 39-year-old now returns to England, bringing considerable experience to Burnley as the club looks to strengthen its squad.
