Unai Emery has made clear that Aston Villa see Alejandro Garnacho as a long-term player for the club, insisting they will help the Argentine forward regain his confidence and reach his best level.
Speaking about Garnacho’s future at Villa, Emery stressed the club’s commitment to helping the 22-year-old settle and demonstrate the qualities that made him one of the most highly regarded young forwards in European football.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano in a post on X around midnight BST, the Spanish manager said:
“We want him at the best level. He is a player we have signed for a long time, and we will help him to feel comfortable and confident to get his quality”.
Garnacho joined Aston Villa from Chelsea in July on a season-long loan deal, with the move giving him an opportunity to rebuild his form and confidence away from Stamford Bridge.
Since arriving at Villa Park, the Argentine has featured as a substitute in each of Villa’s four matches this season.
He came off the bench against Brighton, Arsenal and Hull City in the Premier League, while also making a substitute appearance against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League.
Although Garnacho is yet to make his first start for Villa, Emery’s comments suggest the club remain confident in his ability and see his development as an important part of the season.
Garnacho Set for Another Opportunity
Garnacho and his Aston Villa teammates are set to return to Premier League action today, with Villa facing their next domestic challenge against Nottingham Forest at 15:00 BST.
Villa take on Forest for the first time since they thrashed the London club 4-0 t in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League back in May.
The match provides another opportunity for the Argentine to make an impact, whether from the start or from the bench, as he continues his adaptation to life at Villa Park.
At the other hand, the match will tand as an opportunity for Aston Villa to get their first win in the Premier League this campaign, as they’ve only secured a point in three outings.
They currently sit in 17 place in the league.
