Bruno Guimarães has informed Newcastle United of his decision to leave St James’ Park, with the midfielder keen on securing a move to Arsenal.
According to reputable reports, namely Sky Sports and the Athletic, the Brazilian international has now made a firm decision regarding his future, with the Gunners also intensifying their pursuit for the highly rated midfielder.
Guimarães joined Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022 and has since developed into one of the club’s most influential figures.The 28-year-old still has two years remaining on his current contract, having signed a five-year extension in October 2023. That deal previously included a £100million release clause, which expired in June 2024.
Before now, Guimarães has attracted strong interest from top clubs across Europe and England, with both Arsenal and Manchester City being his prominent suitors.
On the international stage, Guimarães featured prominently for Brazil at the recent FIFA World Cup, starting every match and registering four assists before their elimination in the round of 16 at the hand of Norway.
