Tariq Lamptey has completed a move to Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer following his departure from Serie A side Fiorentina.
The 25-year-old right-back arrives in the EFL Championship looking to revive his career after an injury-disrupted spell in Italy.
Statement from QPR Chief Executive
QPR’s chief executive, Christian Nourry, expressed confidence in the signing, highlighting both the player’s ambition and the club’s growing appeal. Speaking in the wake of signing the right back he noted:
“We’ve had good conversations about what he wants to achieve and how he feels that this is the right environment for him to flourish in. His decision to join QPR over a myriad of other EFL Championship clubs and clubs abroad is a further signal of the growing potential of this football club.”
Chelsea and Fiorentina Spells
Lamptey began his professional career at Chelsea, where he made his Premier League debut against Arsenal. He later moved to Brighton, making over 120 appearances and establishing himself as a dynamic full-back.
In September 2025, he transferred to Fiorentina for £6 million. However, his time in Italy was severely impacted by injury. He made only two appearances for the Serie A side after suffering a serious ACL injury just 22 minutes into his debut league match against Como and end with just 25 minutes for the coastal club. Back in May, the club officially announced they’ve terminated his contract which ran until 2029.
Lamptey (25), only made 2 appearances for Fiorentina since making the switch to the Italian Serie A club.
