Grabara goes out injured

The Polish shot-stopper Kamil Grabara, who recently joined Juventus on a season-long loan from second-division club VFL Wolfsburg has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. According to the medical bulletin released by Juventus, the player suffered the tear in his right knee, and will ‘undergo orthopedic consultations in the coming days to determine the treatment plan.’

Although the bulletin is vague on the new signee’s prospects and the duration of his absence, this is an unfortunate turn of events for both the keeper and the club. An ACL injury usually cancels out a player’s involvement for the best part of a season. And the keeper, who made his début for Juventus in their 5-0 thrashing of NEC Nijmegen, who was instrumental in the victory by keeping a clean sheet and even securing an assist. And at the end, manager Luciano Spalletti recognized his efforts, and lauded his ‘composure and ability to play with his feet.’ This is sad, terrible news for the 27-year-old with such promising start.

Even more so for Juventus, as the injury list has just grown even longer. Thuram (knee surgery) and Locatelli (Meniscus injury), Yildiz (broken foot) and Ekhator (hamstring strain), Cabal (thigh problems) and Boga (hamstring injury) are all away. Sad and terrible.
