Manchester United have officially completed the signing of 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder, Andrey Santos, from Chelsea.
According to an announcement on Manchester United’s official website, Santos has signed a long-term contract running until June 2031, with an option to extend for a further year.
Speaking after completing the move, Santos expressed his excitement, stating:
“Everything about Manchester United is special; it is an incredible feeling to join a club that some of my biggest idols have represented.
As a midfielder, I am really excited to have the opportunity to learn from Michael Carrick, he is the perfect coach to help me take the next step in my career and push to achieve my dreams.
Everybody told me about how ambitious the club is and the amazing environment that has been created here. I know just how strong the squad is and I cannot wait to fight together to compete for the biggest trophies.”
Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, also praised the signing, saying:
“Andrey is an outstanding midfielder with excellent technical qualities and the ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.
He was a key target for us in an important position, so we are delighted that he will join Michael’s squad so early in pre-season.
Despite already having extensive experience, leadership abilities and proving his talent at the highest level, Andrey still has enormous potential to develop further, and we cannot wait to see him flourish at Manchester United”.

Chelsea confirmed the transfer on their official platform, stating:”Andrey Santos has completed a permanent transfer to Manchester United…

Santos joined Chelsea in 2023 from Vasco da Gama and later went on an 18-month loan spell to RC Strasbourg, where he helped the youthful French club qualify for the UEFA Conference League, captaining the side on several occasions while recording 11 goals and five assists.
He returned in 2025 as part of Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup-winning squad, finishing with 47 appearances. Known for his ball-playing ability and creativity, Santos stood out in the 2026/2027 season by registering the highest pass-completion rate and most progressive passes per 90 minutes among Premier League midfielders under the age of 22, further highlighting his immense potential at such a young age.
