Manchester United are close to signing Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans after triggering the €41 million release clause in his contract.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have already reached a verbal agreement with the Belgian international following successful talks with his representatives, Claes Football agency, putting the deal on the verge of completion.
The move is expected to be finalized soon, with Tielemans set to swap the Midlands for the North West.
United are reinforcing their midfield ahead of a demanding season that includes a return to European competition. His arrival adds to their summer business, following an agreement with Chelsea to sign Andrey Santos for £50 million.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, won’t miss their midfield talisman that much as they’ve secured the signing of Swiss midfield talent, Johan Manzambi, a much more younger and fresher player, for Youri’s replacement.
Tielemans still has two years remaining on his Aston Villa contract, which runs until June 2028 signed back in 2024. He helped Villa secure a historic European triumph- ending a 34-year wait- when they defeated Freiburg 3-0 in Istanbul back in May.
