Como Reach an Agreement for Chalobah

Como are on the verge of completing a significant defensive signing after reaching an agreement with Chelsea for Trevoh Chalobah.

The deal, reportedly worth £25.7 million upfront with an additional £5.1 million in performance-based add-ons, underlines Como’s growing ambition ahead of a historic UEFA Champions League campaign next season.

While the agreement between both clubs has been finalized, details surrounding Chalobah’s personal terms remain undisclosed.

A Chelsea Career of Highs and Setbacks

Chalobah’s time at Chelsea has experienced a noticeable decline in recent seasons.

Once considered a reliable defensive option, he found himself sidelined prior to the 2025/26 campaign. The defender was excluded from the club’s 2024 pre-season tour, stripped of his squad number, and subsequently sent on loan to Crystal Palace.

Despite these setbacks, Chalobah demonstrated commendable determination. Following a recall in January 2025, he worked his way back into contention and went on to start 31 Premier League matches, re-establishing himself as a dependable presence at the back.

However, football is often shaped by evolving priorities. Even after his consistent performances, Chalobah was deemed surplus to requirements amid a defensive overhaul that included the arrival of French defender Maxence Lacroix.

Como’s Ambition Takes Center Stage

For Como, the pursuit of Chalobah represents more than just a routine transfer—it is a statement of intent. The Italian side are preparing for their first-ever UEFA Champions League campaign, and their recruitment strategy reflects a desire to compete at the highest level.

Chalobah’s potential arrival adds to an already impressive list of acquisitions. The club recently made headlines by securing Nico Paz from Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth €60 million.

Such investments highlight Como’s determination to build a squad capable of challenging both domestically and in Europe.

A New Beginning For Chalobah

For Chalobah, the move represents a much-needed opportunity for stability and growth. Leaving Chelsea would bring an emotional end to a remarkable 20-year association with his boyhood club—a journey that saw him rise through the ranks to become a first-team regular.

At Como, he is likely to find a clearer role and renewed confidence, particularly within a team eager to make its mark on the European stage. The transition could prove beneficial for both player and club, offering Chalobah a platform to rediscover consistency while strengthening Como’s defensive structure heading into the new season.
