Arsenal are set to intensify their pursuit of Bruno Guimarães, with fresh talks scheduled with Newcastle United next week.
The North London club are keen to secure the services of the Brazilian midfielder as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Arsenal have already reached an agreement with the player, who has reportedly informed Newcastle United of his desire to join the Gunners. This gives Arsenal a significant advantage in negotiations.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are prepared to submit an improved offer, exceeding their initial £70 million bid, in a bid to meet Newcastle’s valuation and finalize the transfer for the 28-year-old midfielder.
Newcastle’s Valuation and Initial Bid
The Gunners initially tabled a £70 million offer for Guimarães last week. However, Newcastle United made it clear that any potential suitor must meet a valuation of at least £80 million for their captain.
This firm stance underlines Newcastle’s determination to retain one of their most influential players unless a substantial offer is presented.
Eddie Howe’s Comments on the Situation
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe addressed the situation, admitting uncertainty over the player’s future despite maintaining a strong relationship with him.
“I’ve had some really good conversations with him before the World Cup, during the World Cup and after the World Cup,” Howe said.“What we speak about has to remain private, but he’s just a great player, a great person.”
“I don’t know what’s going to happen with Bruno’s future. That’s for other people to speculate about. They are conversations that I’m not part of.”
“You’ve got to look at it in its own right,” he added.“Bruno is the captain of our football club. He’s been an unbelievable player and person all through the time we have worked together.”
“I speak on behalf of everyone at the football club. We absolutely love him and, of course, everyone will want him to stay.”
Howe’s comments highlight both admiration for the player and the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing transfer saga.
It is understood that Guimarães has been on holiday with his family following Brazil’s last-16 exit from the World Cup at the hands of Norway this month. He is expected to return to Newcastle on Friday before traveling with the squad for a pre-season training camp in Spain.
Arsenal on the other hand remain determined to push through the deal, especially after missing out on Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.
While Arsenal continue to push strongly to secure Guimarães’ signature, Newcastle United remain resolute in their stance to keep their captain.
